Nelson Mandela, a true legend of our times.
Vivid memories...
I'm a "product" of my parents liberal, social, anti-fascist mind. Being 60, I'm old enough to have vivid memories of Ds Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy and the almost unknown and forgotten founders of the European Community of Coal and Steel, now the European Union, during my childhood. Perhaps I should now add Desmond Tutu to this list of vivid memories of extra ordinary men.
Those men were al inspiration for my thoughts and political, humanist views. Of course, JFK, Mahatma Gandhi, and many philosophers and writers did it too as well as my never ending search for the truth behind evilness - like the third Reich I know so much of - racism, egoism, selfishness or xenophobia and still cannot understand.
Nelson Mandela had it all and more. Actually, something specifically more: to forgive whatever your enemies did even to your personal life. I have to admit it. I have been flabbergasted many times by Nelson Mandela. Revenge isn't written in my mind or thoughts of justice. Capital punishment i.e. is one of the things I will always oppose, whatever a person did. But can I truly forgive people who did something against humanity, committed genocide or just something that made me suffer severely some way? Even as a supporter of the "NO H8!" campaign, and other human rights campaigns, I have to admit that in a few exceptional occasions, true forgiveness isn't in my vocabulary too. Sometimes I had to look the other way or at least keep my mouth or hold my breath. Again, in some very, very exceptional cases only. But still.... Mandella - as far as I know - didn't. Never, ever. That makes Nelson Mandela unique.
Of course, today's political leaders, show stars, sports hero's and any v.i.p. from east to west and from north to south are commenting and quoting Mandelas words and deeds with words every song and speech writer and historian is looking for. And just the fact that all news channels from around the world including China Central TV were broadcasting the full hour from 8 am till 9 am on Nelson Mandela ONLY makes it clear: his dead wasn't a hot news item as it is usually after an assassination or other event raising a fountain or water fall of questions. It is just a world wide tribute to someone who IMO already was "a true legend of our times".

Fyra en BeNeLux-treinen, langzaam door de blinde bochten van politiek en ambtenarij?

En wéér is er een politiek verteerbaar compromis met stil applaus binnengehaald! :(
Ik zeg dus nadrukkelijk "met stil applaus." Want wat er nu weer op tafel ligt is IMO te bespottelijk om serieus genomen te worden. Of, naar Nederlandse gewoonte, "wegens omstandigheden" gesloten compromis. Ooit een minister geweest die überhaupt ook maar iets van treinen weet? Maar ja, er is wel ooit een minister minister van kunst en cultuur geweest waarvan de hoofdambtenaren grapten: "Als ze haar auto met chauffeur mag houden kan ze een jaar minister af zijn zonder het door te hebben! :D
Het inmiddels oude nieuws toch even op een rijtje:
Die omstandigheden zijn IMO mede ontstaan door een overhaaste conclusie van de NMBS, de Belgische spoorwegen, die hals over kop de AnsaldoBreda V250 treinen van hun spoor wilden hebben. Of daar méér achter zit dan de feitelijke kinderziekten van de V250, zal waarschijnlijk duister blijven. Wel gingen er tijdens de aanbestedingsprocedure met regelmaat ontevreden geluiden rond. Ook die aanbesteding was weer een compromis. Niet zozeer over de fabrikant, maar wel over de specificaties die in bedekte termen nogal "op zijn Hollands zuinigjes"bleken te zijn. Wat die Belgische bezwaren *precies* waren, vóór en ná aanbesteding, is ook duister gebleven. Maar een feit is wel dat de Nederlanders sowieso gezien hun overgrote meerderheid en meerderheidsbelangen, de uiteindelijke versie met 2 of meer jaar vertragingen, makkelijk door de Belgische strot kònden duwen. Het is pure speculatie van mijn kant omdat ik niets concreets kan bewijzen, maar indien de Belgen heimelijk op wraak zinden, kwam die sneeuw als een waar Gods geschenk uit de lucht vallen! Maar zelfs als er niets achter zit, hebben de Belgen met hun actie die Nederlanders wèl voor het blok gezet.
Met verbijstering heb ik - via de media - de beslissingen om van het AnsaldoBreda contract c.q. van de V250 treinen af te komen gevolgd. Vooral de argumenten die de media, en dus de publieke opinie, ervan moesten overtuigen dat AnsaldoBreda een soort prutsbedrijfje zou zijn. Op sociale media weerklonken allemaal beweringen als zouden het de eerste HS treinen zijn die het bedrijf - zelfs noodgedwongen - wel moest bouwen om te overleven, het bedrijf geen verstand van treinen had; en wat al niet meer aan volslagen "men zegt" nonsense als stelligheid de ronde deden. De enige beweringen die zo je wilt wel hout sneden of in dit geval op het juiste spoor zaten, zijn de bekende "wie voor een dubbeltje op de eerste rang wil zitten" en "goedkoop is duurkoop" gezegdes, waarbij IMO ten onrechte de schuld toch weer bij de fabrikant en niet bij de aanbestedings voorwaarden (van vooral NS) gelegd werden.
Slechts een enkeling zoals ondergetekende nu, en in mijn eerder blog "Fyra naar de Filistijnen?" en een columnist in bijv. NRC-Next, heeft getracht om duidelijk te maken dat de publieke opinie behoorlijk op een dwaalspoor zit. In zoverre was ik blij met de paginagrote advertentie van AnsaldoBreda in diverse kranten jongst leden. Want, op een 10tal volgers en een enkeling na, hebben mijn woorden en dit blog natuurlijk geen enkele impact. Helaas. Maar helaas denk ik dat dat krantenbericht jammer genoeg toch te laat is gekomen. Maar dat ik hun verweer en beweringen meer dan serieus neem, is niet een kwestie van "geloven" maar van dat wat ik als trein-metro-tram "liefhebber" (= niet fanatieke hobbyist) in de hobby- en vakliteratuur volg en vind en, proefondervindelijk, door ook met de echte TAV (Trenno di Alta Velosità) van AnsladoBreda met 320 km/u door Italië "geflitst" te hebben!

Maar nu dan het "nieuwe" nieuws!
Natuurlijk is het niet alleen wenselijk maar vanzelfsprekend èn noodzakelijk dat de dure infrastructuur van de HSL lijn méér dan 2x per uur gebruikt word. En ja, ik juich ook de komst van de EuroStar verbinding met Londen heel hard toe! Of er echt een Talys of 6 per dag meer naar Parijs zouden moeten rijden betwijfel ik. Wel is het duidelijk dat de beoogde Fyra HSL verbinding Amsterdam - Brussel v.v. met (minstens) 1x per uur er moet komen, zoals vroeger de BeNeLux-treinen dat 1x per uur deden. Dat er nu plots weer de oude lijn via Den-Haag via oud spoor van stal gehaald word als "redelijk alternatief" voor de gestrande HSL Fyra is gewoonweg bespottelijk. Dan was die HSL aanleg dus blijkbaar toch overbodig? Nee, natuurlijk niet!
Wat was in het verleden de frequentie op OUD spoor tussen Amsterdam - Brussel / Parijs??? Elk uur de BNL trein naar Brussel, en op gezette tijden de (v/h TEE en D-trein, later Thalys) express treinen naar Parijs. Nou had die 1e Klasse TEE nog iets van pluche Oriënt Express nostalgie maar was niet meer concurrerend met de alsmaar goedkopere vluchten naar Parijs en wel leuk om sjiek op vakantie te gaan, maar niet om zakelijk heen en weer te pendelen. Dus, op zomervakantiegangers na, moest de HSL/TGV vooral een alternatief voor zakelijk en incidenteel vliegverkeer worden. Dat zou het ook kunnen zijn!
Maar nee, slimme koppen bedachten dat de infrastructuur die zoals gebruikelijk uiteindelijk het tigvoudige gekost heeft dan aanvankelijk begroot was, snel terugverdiend kon worden! Hoe doe je dat?
Men neme een aanbesteding die van alle "overbodige" toeters en bellen ontdaan is - (bijv. : Sneeuw? Die 3 dagen eens per 5-10 jaar? Nee, da's onzin!) Vervolgens stellen we een verplichte reservering met toeslag in. Maar, met een handig computerprogramma dat de prijs op voorhand verlaagd bij te verwachte lege treinen en bij volle treinen -al dan niet naar verwachting - lekker omhoog gaat! Kassa! "Ach, als mensen op de dag zelf naar hun bestemming willen, dan kùnnen ze niet anders en betalen er dan grif voor. En wie naar koopjes zoekt voor een tripje Antwerpen of Brussel, die besteld van tevoren en neemt een trein vroeger of later. Zo wèrkt het nou eenmaal! Zo is het toch? Niet?! " Dat het in de vliegindustrie nèt iets anders gaat : lege stoelen worden voor een habbekrats "last minute" verkocht, "dat heeft men nicht gewust!" ? In de Fyra / Thalys HSL betaal je op het station van vertrek dus altijd de allerhoogste prijs, of je gaat niet, ook al rijdt die trein 3/4 leeg!
Het meest verbijsterende argument dat ik - alweer jaren geleden - "terzijde" ingefluisterd kreeg was wel: "Logisch toch! Elke reiziger die erbij komt, die dicht het exploitatie gat weer een beetje! Wat denk je dat bijv. al die tv-reclame en PR wel niet kost?"
Precies! Met andere woorden: "hoe moeten we anders die miljoenen aan bonussen binnen zien te krijgen? De HSL is er niet voor de reiziger, maar voor onze portefeuilles". Inderdaad, zo WERKTE het! Ook bij de banken : hypotheken werden niet verstrekt om mensen aan een eigen huis te helpen maar omdat het doorverkoopbare handel was en nog steeds is!
Stel: ik schaf dat reserveringssysteem af en - zoals al 20 jaar met Franse TGV treinen - zet automaten op het perron waar tot 10 minuten voor vertrek gewoon je ticket met stoelnummer of alleen stoelreservering uitkomt. Gewoon aan de normale prijs met een kleine toeslag (zoals vroeger de D-treinen in NL ook fl. 2,50 duurder waren) Wat gebeurt er dan?
Die overbodige toestanden die bakken met geld kosten en dus in de reis verdisconteerd worden, vallen weg, en de reiziger weet wat hij kwijt zal zijn. ( = De gewone reis met een kleine stoelplaats toeslag.) Waarschijnlijk resultaat: Méér reizigers en dus meer omzet! "Hohoho.... Meer omzet is niet meer winst!" Inderdaad! Maar geen bonussen en totaal overbodige website pagina's die door eveneens totaal overbodige beheers en sub managers en managers "bestierd" hoeven te worden!!!
Wat wèl een goed idee zou zijn, is om naast de HSL en de stoptreinen ook de "oude" BNL-treinen op oud spoor, weer in te zetten als 1 per uur Intercity AMS-Schiphol-Leiden-Den Haag-Rotterdam-Dordrecht-Roosendaal, dan splitsen: voorste stel: Antwerpen-Gent-Brugge-Oostende; achterste stel, door naar Middelburg-Vlissingen. V.v. Aangezien dat deze trajecten gehéél op oud spoor gaan en deze trajecten eveneens al jaren maar dan met (directe) overstap in Roosendaal resp. Antwerpen technisch probleemloos ingezet konden worden zie ik ook nu geen enkel probleem! Het koppelen en ontkoppelen is ook een fluitje van een cent dat dagelijks op een aantal trajecten plaatsvind. En nogmaals, behalve het traject Roosendaal - Antwerpen, dat sinds de Fyra komst afgeschaft is, rijden die treinen nog steeds! Daarmee zou er voor de reizigers naast de stoptreinen en HSL een belangrijke doorgaande/overstap verbinding ontstaan.
De bezettingsgraden? Als de HSL tegen gewone prijs met kleine toeslag ingezet wordt, zal dat ongetwijfeld een aantal reizigers uit de intercity halen. Maar omgekeerd, zullen automobilisten eerder de auto laten staan. Met zijn 3en of 4en een dagje Antwerpen of Brussel resp. Amsterdam is met het huidige tarief behoorlijk duur. Hoewel men vaak parkeergeld en benzine in de totale kosten over het hoofd ziet.
Concurrentie NS en andere aanbieders als Eurostar? Helaas is het spoor net als andere openbare en "nuts" bedrijven overgeleverd aan de grillen en grollen en graaien van de z.g. Marktwerking. En IMO feitelijk overgeleverd aan krankzinnige (bonus) commercie. Ondanks het kartelverbod en verbod op prijsafspraken, kan ik niet anders concluderen dat die vrije markt direct en indirect, nagenoeg alleen prijsopdrijvend is geweest behalve bij bulkaankopen zoals bij telefonie en internet. Het telefoneren naar de VS of Tokio is goedkoper, en 500 belminuten is per minuut ook goedkoper geworden, dat wel. Maar wat moet ik met 500 belminuten per maand? Of het feit dat naar Tokyo bellen goedkoper is dan amper over de grens?En in het verlengde straks wellicht 100 plaatsreserveringen per maand Amsterdam -Brussel "voor geen geld" ???
Zoals ik eerder stelde, juich ik ook de komst van de EuroStar naar London toe. Maar méér dan waarschijnlijk zal dat weinig echt soelaas bieden voor de verbinding Amsterdam - Brussel. Met een NS ticket zal je waarschijnlijk niet met de Eurostar (of andere vervoerder) kunnen reizen. En heb je de EuroStar trein naar Brussel gemist? Jammer, pech gehad, want is vast ook niet geldig op de eerstvolgende Fyra of Thalys. Dan te weten dat wij, de belastingbetaler dus, die dure infrastructuur betaald hebben om het vervolgens bijna cadeau te doen aan een exploitant die ons vervolgens wéér doet betalen om hun eigen (bonus) winsten op te voeren. :( Dat vind ik echt heel erg.
Het allerergste vind ik overigens toch die stilstaande "Fyra" oftewel V250 H.s. treinen van AnsaldoBreda en de te verwachtten gevolgen de komende jaren. Tja.. Er komt dan waarschijnlijk wel weer een parlementaire enquete - die hooguit "gebakken ijssneeuw" (zoals El-Al "Beladen (K/V-)lucht") zal opleveren en het al nihilistisch "populaire" van de politiek nog verder zal schaden = nog meer ongenoegen en proteststemmen zal opleveren. Het resultaat staat Mijns inziens van te voren vast: "das haben wir nicht gewusst". En, "nee, het is NIET het doel om Zwarte Pieten uit te delen, maar om lessen voor de toekomst te trekken." :((
En ondertussen staan de Fyra treinen en de reizigers in duur te betalen kou. Hoewel, sinds kort zijn de Fyra treinen toch maar uit de mottenballen gehaald en rijden ze 's nachts om niet aan de rails vast te gaan roesten. Duur treintje spelen dus. :D

US shut down? The myths unveiled by Watchdog.org

In a rare weekend session, lawmakers from both parties urged one another to give ground in their fight over preventing a federal shutdown.

MADISON – Again, the United States stands on the brink of another federal government shutdown as its two major parties play their recurring game of fiscal chicken.
There’s been a lot of rhetoric about just what a government shutdown would mean to the nation at large and the average citizen in particular. A prolonged shutdown, economists tell Watchdog.org, would have a deleterious impact on an economy struggling to recover. But most of the so-called government shutdowns in the past, when Congress and the president failed to come to terms on a budget or continuing resolution, lasted but a few days. As one economist put it, a brief stall would have the impact of a “snow day” in Washington, D.C.
So let’s cut through the heated rhetoric, starting with the notion of what a government shutdown is.
Myth No. 1
All federal agencies would cease to operate under a government shutdown.
False. Many of the services we have come to expect would continue to function, particularly those deemed “essential.”
Myth No. 2
A government shutdown would stall Social Security payments.
False.
“This shutdown would be similar to past shutdowns, which means Social Securitychecks will still come out, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) will still be at work certifying new drugs. All of the same protections will still be in place,” saidStephen Fuller, PhD, director of the Center for Regional Analysis, School of Public Policy, at George Mason University. And funding for Medicare and Medicaid is mandatory, so the entitlements are not subject to annual appropriations that lapse during a shutdown.
Health care fraud-fighting initiatives, however, would take a hit, for instance. “CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) would be unable to continue discretionary funding for health care fraud and abuse strike force teams resulting in the cessation of their operations,” warns the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Myth No. 3
A shutdown would cripple military operations and leave the United States vulnerable to attack.
False.
America’s approximately 1.4 million active duty personnel would remain at their posts, and there are legislative promises that all would be paid on time. A House measure passed Saturday would ensure as much.
Nearly half of the military’s civilian personnel could face furloughs, however. The big hit would come to federal contractors. Fuller said federal inspectors would be pulled off government contract sites, and that effectively would shut down those projects. It’s important to note that federal agencies, in accordance with the U.S. Constitution,cannot spend taxpayer money without a congressional appropriation.
By the way, all of the vital functions of the U.S. Department of Homeland Securitywould continue to function, and the National Security Agency would remain ever vigilant in watching whoever it is the agency deems important to watch.
Myth No. 4.
A shutdown would cost all federal government employees their jobs?
False.
But as much as 40 percent of the civilian federal work force, or more than 800,000 employees, could see their jobs on hold, in areas ranging from workplace safety inspection to national parks and museums, Fuller said.
Myth No. 5
Shutting down the government means I don’t have to pay taxes.
False.
The Internal Revenue Service would still be demanding – and collecting – its share of your hard-earned cash.
Myth No. 6
A showdown would delay implementation of Obamacare.
False.
Enrollment in the federal and state health care exchanges through the Affordable Care Act begins Oct. 1. Benefits and services don’t become effective until Jan. 1, 2014. “You can still register online,” Fuller said. “I don’t know that this will have any impact on that at all, unless Congress agrees to a delay.”
State and federal exchanges would be able to operate in the event of a government shutdown.
Myth No. 7
The United States would default on its bills if Congress doesn’t deal with the federal debt ceiling by Oct. 17
False.
In his latest fundraising plea, President Barack Obama declares “House Republicans are threatening to shut down the government and potentially default on our bills for the first time in history – because they want to sabotage the Affordable Care Act.”
The notion of U.S. default couldn’t be farther from the truth, said Thomas Campbell, dean of Chapman University’s Fowler School of Law in Orange, Calif. Campbell, a former member of Congress and member of President Ronald Reagan’s administration when the federal government shut down in 1981, says failure to boost the debt ceiling would mean the federal government simply cannot borrow more money.
“It might stop paying Medicaid to states, or housing assistance or student loans, but if you have a bond or contract with the federal government you will be paid,” he toldWatchdog.org.
Campbell, who served in Congress in 1995-96, during the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, predicts Congress and the president will come to terms shortly on a deal that keeps the government functioning short-term until they can break through the stalemate.
“Every previous shutdown or cycle in which there has been a shutdown threat, there has been a one-week or 10-day extension,” he said. “I think that is cause for taking things a little more calmly.”

Kerry (Obama) = Powell (Bush) ???
I cannot believe it anymore! "L Histoire se répète." ???
A decade ago, Powell came to the UN with a complete presentation of Saddam Hussein's weapons of mas destruction. Satellite pictures, maps, detailed drawings of facilities.... Everything PROVING that Sadam's Iraq was threatening the world!
Suddenly there was a reason to bomb Baghdad, invade Iraq, get after Saddam, and to implement democracy. Was it just new? Didn't Saddam used chemical weapons in Kurdish Iraq years before??? But worse; of all launching installations and chemical and or nuclear plants, none existed!
The Syrian Assad regime is bombing for two years now every place in Syria where so called revolutionaries have a stronghold. Thousands of casualties in the first months. That was IMO a good reason to implement a "no (military) flying zone" above Syria. Not that I trusted those so called rebels, but at least it was worth the effort to find meanwhile a possible non violent, political solution without the destruction of many places at the cost of many, many lives. But of course not, Syria has no oil industry like Libya where a no flying zone was implemented within no time.
Now suddenly a red line has been crossed?
And proof that *Assad, his army* used chemical weapons?
The same intelligence that produced the proof of Saddam 's weapons of mass destruction???
Even if chemicals were involved, what can proof that it was used by the Syrian army?
What happens when a conventional shel, bomb or other devise blows up a stock of in example chlorine (bleach) and ammoniac? (Just in example!)
Why isn't there a dozen of international coroners deployed to perform autopsies on a few dozens of (at random selected) bodies of this so called chemical assault? Who else can determine the cause of death???
There are many more questions crossing my mind! But questioning and thinking isn't as popular as "believing" like "in God we trust". :(

Egypt and Middle East versus Western world media?
Okay, in a way I'm also Western world media, using my blogs, Facebook and twitter to tell "my opinions" and sympathies.
to quote Shakespeare : "There is the rub": dilemmas are often not easy at all! Of course, I am a democrat. Even when I said in the past (CompuServe 1994-99) that I rather like to be seen as an *enlightened despot*, than a *corrupt democrat*! The latter being the standard IMO ! ;)
Now back to Egypt, a huge nation with a respectful old history, a doubtful recent 1/2 cententury, and a difficult present. (Even so is Syria, now I the spotlight, but also all Arab countries!)
Based on factual events the last years, including fearful, shivering stories by my former correspondents - who don't dare to keep in touch with me (a gay, western atheist) anymore - and many awfull pics (mainly from Alexandria) I think I have at least some clue on what is going on THERE. Nope, never been in Egypt! (Has been on my wish list "to visit once" for decades)
According to my personal sources until last months and many respectful media like those listed beneath, the situation is at least controversial! State tv stations are usually projecting (often propaganda) for the rulers. Many "social media" with YouTube up-front are projecting images you cannot verify! Time, date nor place; and perhaps the worst: real or mock-up, live or staged... None can tell!!! Even my personal sources -whom I wish to believe- are at least not without any questions. Real scapegoats are also subject to manipulation and -local - propaganda! That is one thing for sure!
Therefore I'm very reluctant to shear or whoooo, believe or disbelieve , what is shown or said or written. At least the first days, but even for years. One very simple reason: I know how even parliamentary enquiries in the NL have been manipulated for weeks (absolute lies, deception and PERJURY !) and the outcome "believed" to be true.
Never the less, al media do show one thing for sure: the arabian spring went over into a "freezing hot" summer! Indeed: a contradiction. And frankly, I think that the truth (if any) will never come out! Were those pics from burning churches recent or from 2 years ago? Are those so called poison gas attacks by the state forces in Syria real, or did the so called rebels did it? Who can tell the truth??? :(

Based on WHAT info are they speaking those harsh words??? Did they watched all incoming broadcasts like I did? For sure: NOT! They have other daily business to do. I'm different!
I have watched from 10:20 17:00 and from 21:00 til 02:00 the unfolding events in Cairo and other Egyptian cities and places *non-stop*!!! Nope i didnt had some channen in the background while hovering the carpets! On my large screen TV on top of of my old TV I watched Al-Jazeera, under that - switching between CNN and BBC-world - and next to me in bed: Euronews, Euronews non comment on my IPad with e-mail and other
Yes, I am disabled and thus more ore less * clustered * in bed with TV . But my vision, hearing and brains do work! B8-)
So what happened (according to the above Live News Channels including incoming still/live pics from AP, Reuters, AFP and other "reliable" news agencies) in those first 6-12 hours?
Around 10:30 a bulldozer crashed trough the first defensive (?) wall of bricks. (Has been repeated 100x everywhere). Then the bulldozer went on to the second wall. For sure for real: a jung man with a garbage bag in front of his face rushed up the second wall, armed with a huge assault weapon (AK42?) and shot the bulldozer driver!!! That was live on TV!!! The bulldozer drove backwards (also seen those pics and footage until there some 100x on ALL TV channels )But, never seen anymore: ... and then the driver fell out of the vehicle, ( very heavy wounded if not dead) . THOSE PICS were never repeated: -> The driver was tried to be rescued by 3-4 men and those men were all shot. Then the black clouted men (police/security/... Forces) opened fire! That was likely back-fire to cover the rescue of those 4-5 men. Not the guy with the garbage bag - who got in cover behind the 2nd brick wall - but some dozen men jumping over the second wall got into the fire of the "black men" who already shot some tear gas towards the "assaulters". Some still pics (Reuter/AP/...) were shown later again and again but only in the next hours. Never since. :(
Around 15-16:00 hrs it got verry grim at the .... bridge. The forces (black dressed men) walked in formation towards the "protesters", shooting tear gas. A bus and a car were driven down as a barricade and Molotov cocktails (or so) were thrown to the forces who only went on steadily while shooting tear gas every 30 secs. After a (few) min(s) 4-5 men in disguise jumped on the bus and car and opened fire with automatic assault weapons on the forces. (due to long distance tele pics I could not see what kind of arms, but the sound revealed "a kind of Kalischnikov" assault rifles. ) Then hell brook lose: a real shoot out with automatic weapons for at least a minute before also Aljazeera switched to another video source. (self censorship?) Meanwhile CNN and others had already switched off the live video when the men in disguise started to shoot! I had to leave at 17:00 but some 20 mins earlier the first iPhone pics/videos were coming in of people with shot wounds evacuated/ rushed into a house, hospital or other facility. Innocent peacefully protesting civilians???
The first pics were IMO very clear: people with a disguising cloth in front of their their faces and ammunition around their chest are NOT innocent civilians!
Later that evening I saw many videos on many TV stations, showing some of those same, and other people (now without ammunition and masks) being so called innocent civilians???
Yes, that was media stuff, going over and over again! :(
And then Obama, Merkel, others you name them; came with their statements condemning the military government, being outraged due to the violence used by forces agains innocent people!?
Sorry.... Who am I ? Yes, I deed: A disabled man who followed hours and hours the unfolding events on many channels simultaneous! And yes, for sure: I have a bad short term memory when it's about names, words.... But I have a superb visual memory! Absolutely sure.
None ever questioned me, but I did it myself: were those popping up pics during the live coverage actually from the same day and same place???
Well.... I guess that one pic with a guy with ak42 in disguise was not! Why? I think I saw it years ago in Gaza. Of course, it could be somewhere in Egypt too! But with a Hamas emblem? :/ (It was shown on CNN late that -european- night again!)
Another still from Reuter came up while the live video coverage switched to that mosque east o.t. Nile. But it did show a young guy with assault weapon shooting from that famous bridge onto the "black guys"!
So... Conclusion:
I'm the last one in favor of a military junta! Yes, I am a democrat! So, when Hamas is democratically elected in Gaza... Not my choice. But: Hamas is likely not killing other Palestinians!!!
Above all, I'm a silent atheist! Meaning: I don't believe in any god at all! But as long as you wanna believe without forcing ME "to believe in YOUR GOD or go to the stake" , what did happened in this so called free Western countries not so long ago in history(!) , I really don't mind.
And I'll attend all ceremonies according to the rituals without any hesitation. Hat up in the synagogue, hat off in the Christian churches, shoes out in a mosque or Buddhists temple, giving hands or just not... where ever I am, I will always adapt to the religion, NOT NEVER to the country or politic regime!
The Brotherhood was likely also democratically elected. But... so was Hitler! Yes, he was!!! And according to my personal sources in Alexandria, Cairo and now somewhere very south Nile : Christians, Atheists, LGBT and other *non Brotherhood people*, did fear for their lives last 12 months! Churches have been incinerated one after the other last year. Gay clubs have been assaulted or anyhow closed. Not to speak of personal attacks or murders on gays who don't get the world media but are the worst ever personal murders. And last but not least: The Brotherhood wants to install Sharia law and justice in Egypt :/ is that what "we" democratic westerners want???

Re: Operamagazine: gesprek met Hans Nieuwenhuis
Tja, een goeie weergave van de feiten èn Hans’ woorden. Dat kan ik na 40 jaar wel zeggen! 
[Edit:....] = dit heb ik niet in het originele antwoord gezet, omdat het dân gegarandeerd gedeletet zou zijn]
Wat ik wel wil toevoegen zijn de volgende feiten:
in 1990 werd Hans opgestookt om opnieuw in navolging van Hans de Roo, een opera studio op te zetten. Niet door de minsten! [Edit: gelóóf mij maar voor een keer!!] Maar er was geen geld!
Nou ja, ondergetekende had net geërfd en een proces gewonnen… Zo ontstond er een Internationaal Opera Centrum NL. waar ik niet alleen mijn geld maar ook héél veel ” bloed, zweet en tranen ” in gestopt heb. Bloedende blaren van het het schrobben van de eerste accommodatie in de Elandstraat met daarbij heel veel zweet van het koken en lunches alsook bloemenboeketten maken voor de zangers. Oh, het bloed van het enveloppen likken en misselijk worden van het postzegelslikken terzijde dan. 
Maar na 10 jaar was mijn geld op. :/ [Edit: en dankzij een paar hoofdambtenaren die vanaf dag 1 al in allerlei potjes van zeg maar fl. 5.000 meubilair en fl. 8.000 post en huplepup e.d. bijeen wisten te scharrelen, kòn het IOCN nog 10 jaar doorscharrellen. Ik wilde behalve het direct zichtbare zwoegen in kantine en gangen anoniem blijven, en niemand is mij iets verschuldigd! In tegendeel! Net als bij Hans, hebben die jaren een aantal (wereldsterren) zangers opgeleverd. Dàt is ook mìjn beloning! En hoewel ik het woord trots per definitie fout vind, daar ben ik telkens BLIJ om. :) end-edit]
Toen pas kwam er serieuze subsidie! En toen pas kwamen zogenaamde mecenassen in beeld: TV spelletjes en denksport bedenkers die met verkoop van de rechten multimiljonair geworden waren. De redding binnenboord! .???
Al na 1 jaar wist ik het: zó word je miljonair! En na 3 jaar leverde het eerst zelfs een (tijdelijke) echtscheiding op tussen hans en mij, en vervolgens zelfs het “kaltstellen” van Hans.
[edit: nee, dat ging niet goed met Nieuwenhuis zijn financiën, dat moest door de nieuwe ING dikkedeur overgenomen worden! "wat??? Niet akkoord? WIJ zijn het bestuur en dus is meneer Nieuwenhuis ontslagen! " oh wat zegt het ministerie??? "Als dhr. Nieuwenhuis ontslagen word... gaat de geldkraan onmiddelijk dicht!" Oh??? Dan moet meneer Nieuwenhuis toch ff aanblijven, toch?! ]
En ondertussen zongen de jonge zangers maar door op de Staetshuys Salons van de drukbezochte – door voorname, heel voorname, VVD coryfeeën [ zoals dat wijf van Smit-kroes-peper-enzout-] die ooit de strippenkaart bedacht (tenminste, dat zei ze toch bij Sonja Barend) en waar men in Brussel maar niet vanaf raakt – en ING (kantoor!) bankiers die ff de zaken zouden regelen!
Ja, natuurlijk, op geld en leuke jongens geilende nichten die in het wie-Kent-kwizz entourage al kl##r kwamen van hun aanwezigheid. En ja hoor, diezelfde LPF / PVV / VVD creaturen (of moet ik zeggen : medecreatoren?) stonden aan het bestuur van de voor hun in Opera Studio NL omgedoopte stichting die heláás wegbezuinigd werdt. En het resterende geld van circa € 65.000 ging naar het voorname, pardon, voornámere Hans Gabór Belvedère zangersconcours voor 1 jaar (4 dagen dus). Nee, die operastudio was weggegooid geld. Vier dagen Belvedère in Amsterdam, dat is pas wat! Maar ze hebben gelijk hoor, ik als domme Belgische echtgenoot van Hans heb niets meer; zij zijn miljonairs geworden. Logischt toch?! 
[En ter info: Wenen is het zangersconcours en Kammeroper (waar niks gebeurde) kwijt maar heeft wel een grootse opera studio -theater an der Wien- erbij! En Amsterdam is zijn opera studio kwijt en kreeg het genoegen om 4 dagen het Belvedère concours te mogen "huisvesten". En nee, ik heb geen inzage in de (ING) boeken. Oh, en natuurlijk waren wij NIET uitgenodigd op het Amsterdam Belvedère After Concours Party! 23 jaar Opera Sudio en 22 jaar in Wenen, waar de GrachtenpuzzlesHeren 8 jaar geleden niet eens van gehoord hadden (oh... Toch van gehoord, maar nooit geweest? Tja, time is money...) ]
Okay, dat is een flink azijnpissers verhaal! Maar in werkelijkheid zou het VITRIOOL pissen MOETEN zijn! ;)

Fyra naar de Filistijnen?
Van sommige dingen moet je echt kaas gegeten hebben of "je moet er eerst geweest zijn voor je kan oordelen" zijn gevleugelde uitspraken in Nederland naast "de beste stuurlui staan aan de wal" en, het iets minder populaire, "schoenmaker, blijf bij je leest".
Nu wil ik niet beweren dat de realiteit in België anders is, maar het is mij die afgelopen 40 jaar steeds meer opgevallen dat iedereen in Nederland het feitelijk als een soort contradictie bezigde. Iedereen kent het, weet het, zegt het en iedereen doet het zelf ook. Vooral sinds internet en forums niet meer voor de enkeling zijn weggelegd maar een waar volks paradijs verworden is waarbij iedereen zijn zegje met veel kabaal en absolutisme van de daken schreeuwt.
Natuurlijk, mondigheid en een "eigen" mening zijn op zich eigenschappen die toe te juichen zijn. Maar behalve een enkele one-liner en een sporadisch bericht dat de moeite waard is om over na te denken, lees ik zoveel onzin, zo veel volslagen stuurlui en schoenmakers wijsheid dat het mij echt zure kersen eten geworden is.
Wat er allemaal niet beweerd word over het Fyra debacle is werkelijk onvoorstelbaar. Jawel, waar rook is, is vuur, en overal zit wel een kern van waarheid... Vooral als die rookseinen ook nog eens door schoenmakers en (be-)stuurlui ingegeven worden. Als niet fanatieke, maar toch treinen- en spoorliefhebber weet ik echt niet wàt er wèl of toch niet mis is met de Fyra of AnsaldoBreda, de fabrikant van de "bijna" hoge snelheids treinen. En als prodeaan wéét ik absoluut niet wat er wel of niet te behalen - laat staan winnen - valt in het geschil NS-NMBS versus AnsaldoBreda.
Maar in mijn perceptie weet ik wel te voorspellen wie de ware verliezers zullen blijken te zijn: de treinreiziger en de belastingbetaler!
Derhalve was ik blij verrast om in de NRC-Next van vrijdag 7 juni een column van Ilja Leonard Pfeiffer te lezen die eindelijk eens niet van de schoenmaker kwam. :) Eigenlijk voor het eerst iets dat nagenoeg "mijn" eigen mening, op feiten gebaseerd, verwoordde. Natuurlijk zijn er óók grote vraagtekens te plaatsen bij de wijze waarop die hele aanbesteding - inmiddels meer dan 10 jaar geleden - tot stand gekomen is. En niet alleen het rollend materieel, maar ook het beveiligings-, begeleidings- en andere systemen waardoor de ingebruikname van de lijn - ook voor de al bestaande Tallis treinen - nog jaren op zich hebben laten wachten. Of een parlementaire enquete überhaupt iets zou opleveren is, gezien de vorige affaires, zelfs ZERO in mijn opinie.
De Bijlmerramp commissie produceerde een lijvig rapport "Beladen Klucht" na ellenlange verhoren waarbij niet eens de kern van waarheid aan het licht kwam. Alleen de "witte mannetjes" spookverhalen die hardnekkig de ronde deden, en soms nog steeds doen, werden ontkracht.
De bouwfraude bracht wèl e.e.a. aan het licht, maar de klokkenluider kon als dank in een caravan gaan wonen. Wie wil nog zijn mond opendoen laat staan de onderbouwde werkelijkheid aan het licht brengen ? Zeker in het licht van de recente lekken die zelfs als hoogverraad beschouwd worden?
De banken? Iedereen heeft gedaan wat hem te doen stond en het was nieuw, voor het eerst. "Met de wetenschap van nu, zou men toen misschien anders gehandeld hebben, maar nogmaals, het was zo nieuw...".
Lessen voor de toekomst? Laat me niet lachen. Ook dàn wil men in NL eerst het wiel opnieuw uitvinden om vervolgens voor een dubbeltje op de eerste rang te zitten terwijl het hele theater in de hens gaat. En aangezien het wiel NIEUW is, kon men toen niet voorzien dat een 8 hoekig wiel voor geen meter rijdt. Nee, daar kan niemand wat aan doen. Das haben wir nicht gewusst. :D
